Perinatal mood changes are a common complication of pregnancy and can develop at any time during pregnancy or up to a year following birth. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD’s) include depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and panic disorder. Sleep, exercise, and support are some ways that patients can manage their PMAD, but a diagnosis and discussion about treatment – especially if the issues are interfering with a patient’s life – are important.
